No, the overlays are in jpeg format and do not have transparency. In order to "erase" the black background in the images, simply change the blending mode of the layer from "Normal" to "Screen." This will make ONLY the fire or flame appear in your composite or photograph.

If you want direct access to the overlays in Photoshop, we recommend that you create an Adobe Library and then load the jpegs directly into the library using Adobe Bridge. Here is a tutorial on how to do this.
